Street photography
My street photography explores the rhythm, texture, and character of Newcastle upon Tyne, capturing the raw, unscripted moments that define everyday urban life. I am drawn to the spontaneity of the street—the fleeting expressions, chance encounters, and subtle interactions that often pass unnoticed yet quietly shape the identity of a place. Through my lens, I seek to document not only what is visible, but what is felt: the pulse of the city as it unfolds in real time.
Newcastle provides a dynamic and ever-changing backdrop, where historic architecture meets modern movement, and where individual stories intersect within shared public spaces. I am particularly interested in the contrast between energy and stillness—the rush of crowds against moments of quiet reflection, the bold against the understated. These contrasts create a visual language that speaks to the complexity of urban life.
My work focuses on authenticity. Rather than staging or directing, I observe and respond, allowing the environment and its inhabitants to guide each frame. This approach enables me to capture genuine, unfiltered moments that reveal something honest about the human experience. Whether it’s a glance, a gesture, or an overlooked detail, each photograph becomes a fragment of a larger narrative.
Ultimately, my photography aims to preserve these ephemeral moments, transforming the ordinary into something meaningful. By documenting the streets of Newcastle, I hope to create a visual archive that reflects the city’s spirit—its diversity, resilience, and individuality—while inviting viewers to pause, look closer, and connect with the world around them in a more attentive way.
